Strawberry Day
The word “strawberry” is believed to derive from “stray” or “strew,” for the fruit’s tendency to propagate promiscuously. Strawberries are the fifth most consumed fresh fruit in the U.S., after bananas, apples, oranges and grapes. Like raspberries and blackberries, strawberries are in the same subfamily as roses.
